Jun. 9th, 2005 08:12 pmWell, since I've been rudely tagged, I shall list my favourite songs here, and no, this is not easy!
1) The Wings That Fly Us Home - This has been my favourite song for many years, and I don't see it changing anytime soon. It's performed by John Denver and I just love it. It's about the spirit and the lyrics are great. It's not one of his more well known songs, but it's by far the best, in my opinion.
2) Love's the Only House - This is by Martina McBride, and I've put the lyrics up before. It fits how I feel very well about things, and follows a belief system I definitely share and live.
3) Live Like You Were Dying - This song just reminds me of Mikel. It's how he lives life, and that's something that I really admire about him. It's about a guy who found out he was dying, and when asked about what he did when he heard the news, he tells about how he did things like skydiving, mountain climbing, and other things that most people simply don't do because of one reason or another.
4) We Shall Be Free - This is a Garth Brooks song, and I just love it. It's all about how someday we'll get past judging people for things like race, religion, sexual preference and the like. It's a great message and I think it's really inspiring.
5) What a Wonderful World - This is a classic by Louis Armstrong, and it's a really nice and optimistic song. Considering who sang it and the time in which it was written, I think that adds a lot to the whole thing. I mean, if someone like that can show that kind of optimism with all of the things black people had to face back then, then we all should be able to, right?
6) I Think About You - It was so hard to come up with a sixth one! But this one works since I really love the whole idea behind it. It's by Collin Raye and it's talks about how everytime this father sees something that denigrates women or harm that comes to women, he thinks about his eight year old daughter. It definitely hits a strong chord with me, and I can easily expand it to how I think about all my kids, both biological and otherwise, when I see things like that.
So that's it! Umm. Who to tag? I'll have to see if I have enough people on my friends list that haven't been tagged already. If not, I'll tag as many as I can.
