Two:: Thank you again! What a great thing to read is happening on my birthday. I love seeing so many people step up and tell the system that it's wrong and needs to fix things.

(Anonymous) 2011-04-12 02:12 am (UTC)(link)The boy who hung the noose around the tree at lunch was wrong. However, it was only morally wrong. It wasn't legally wrong.
The six boys who beat up the one boy for hanging the noose around the tree were wrong too. But instead of just being morally wrong, they were legally wrong as well, and as such, they must face the legal consequences of their actions.
This makes sense. It's a crystal-clear issue. But now let's throw in the adjectives "black" and "white". Now the emotions flow. Regardless of the emotions, it doesn't change the fact that the white boy did not commit a crime while the black boys did. It sucks, and I hope the white boy regrets every second he spent tying that noose, but it is what it is.
